Visit Peter in his digs

A big thank you also goes to ImagesAZ Magazine for their help in getting the word out about our Scottsdale Home Art Show taking place this November 2015.

Writer, Donna Kublin, stopped by our home to meet the Artist and find out more about Peter, his art and our home art show.  Donna sums it all up in this ImagesAZ Magazine feature.

Public Welcome

The idea of the show is to allow art enthusiasts 6 days to roam 44 art studios nestled within north Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and Carefree, Arizona.  During the two weekends before and after Thanksgiving 2015 we turn our home into a gallery and allow the public to chat with Peter, see and shop his walls, and visit his backyard metal shop.  It’s a popular show – our studio gets about 800 guests each year.  When you visit, you’ll also find 2 friends of ours displaying their art as well –  Paul Farmer a goldsmith and Sandi Ciaramitaro who paints with watercolor and sculpts in bronze.

For those that want to brave the sharp steel and metal dust, we’re also opening up Peter’s metal shop out back this year.  You can see where he works each day, the tools he uses, and some sculptures in progress.  Doors open Friday, November 20th at 10am.  Hope you can join us!

Things to do in Scottsdale 2015

January through March are wild months in Scottsdale.  Anyone who’s anyone is visiting Scottsdale and basking in her glorious winter wonderland of 80 degree weather, green grass, blooming plants, bustling energy, and entertainment opportunities galore.

Scottsdale ensures her visitors make the most of their Scottsdale vacation.  When the convention spaces fill up, premier events move to any bit of available open land.

It seems like any dirt lot in Scottsdale is transformed almost overnight to become a spectacular event (or a parking lot for a spectacular event).

Peter’s Scottsdale art show is one such pop-up venue attracting thousands of visitors each year.

What starts as a dirt lot right off the main highway in north Scottsdale becomes a premier, high-end art gallery for 10 weeks.  Even cooler than a gallery actually – the Celebration of Fine Art juries in only the top 100 professional artists across the country.

Artists must commit to working in their show spaces each day, 8 hours a day, for duration of the 10 week show.  Visitors love to chat with the artists and watch them work.

The Celebration artists are not the artists for whom art is a hobby.  These are those lucky artists who have built careers from their artistic passion.  Art is what these artists do – Art is all they do.  And it shows.

Peter is often asked what his day job is.  (Inevitably, the next question is, “well then, what does your wife do?”)  We are always amused by the shock and awe that comes with the realization that an artist can make it as an artist.

Stop by and see Peter painting away on his newest steel sculpture.  The Scottsdale, Arizona art show runs from January 17th – March 29th, is located right off the 101 & Hayden and one admission gets you in all season.

While you’re in the area, check out a few more of Scottsdale’s best and brightest events.

Within walking distance of the Celebration of Fine Art is the Waste Management Phoenix Open.  A couple miles away is the Barrett Jackson and the Russo and Steele car auctions.  In February, Scottsdale hosts the Arabian Horse Show, and the Super Bowl.  March brings us Spring Training.  Discover all the signature Scottsdale events here.

Home Art Show 2014: Wrap-Up

Hidden in the Hills Home Art Show 2014 was a wild success and tons of fun!!  We welcomed just under 800 guests to our home art show over the past two weekends.

We got to know so many art collectors and holiday shoppers.  What a joyful experience right before Thanksgiving and Christmas!

After 6 days of opening our home to guests, it was time to close up and take down our guest artists’ displays.

Take down day is usually tough.  The Artists are tired from a big show but have to push through and quickly dismantle the show and pack it into their vehicles.

We are all good friends and our guest Artist, Sandi Ciaramitaro showed up for a day of work with a 10 pound standing rib roast.  She brought all the supplies and the know-how to help us make the best meal ever!  What a treat!

While the meat roasted, Peter helped Master Goldsmith, Paul Farmer take down his jewelry display.

And moved out some show supplies for our painter, bronze sculptor (and master chef), Sandi Ciaramitaro.

We had the photographer come to shoot some of Peter’s sculpture.

And the crater come to ship some art purchases.

There’s no rest for the Artists!  Peter’s next art show is also in Scottsdale at the Celebration of Fine Art.  From January 17 through March 29, Peter will be painting away in his pop-up studio right off Hayden & the 101 under the big white tents.  Join Peter and 99 other exceptional artists as they work away each day for 10 weeks.

Sedona Gallery

Renee Taylor Gallery

Peter partners with Renee Taylor Gallery located in Sedona’s premier old-world style shopping complex, Tlaquepaque.

We made a trip to Sedona to breathe in Fall and see how Tlaquepaque’s fountains were decorated this year.  They are gorgeous, lush and worth the trip!

Skidd Steel at Renee Taylor

Renee Taylor Gallery hosts amazing artists and jewelers and the work moves quickly so there is always something fresh from the artists’ studios.

We just brought up these three, 21″ bowls this week:

If you’re lucky enough to vacation in Sedona, make sure to include Renee Taylor in your agenda.  Also, don’t miss West Fork Trail –  it was beautiful this week.  It’s newly reopened after the wildfires and it’s a great family hike in Sedona!
